Board Certified Ophthalmologist | Cornea Specialist | Cataract Surgeon
Dr. Spencer Harris was raised in Idaho Falls, and after 17 years away during school and training, he is excited to be back in Eastern Idaho. He is thrilled to join our team and provide compassionate, high-quality care to our patients.
He graduated with honors from Brigham Young University with a degree in Finance before pursuing his medical education at the University of Washington. It was during medical school where he discovered his fascination with the eye’s intricate anatomy and the physics of vision. This interest, combined with the profound impact of ophthalmic surgeries, led him to pursue the field of ophthalmology.
Dr. Harris completed his medical internship at the University of Washington’s Boise, Idaho campus, followed by an ophthalmology residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship at Duke University where he specialized in Cornea and Refractive Surgery, equipping him with cutting-edge skills in complex eye care and surgery.
Dr. Harris’s professional interests center on complex cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and cornea transplants, where he combines precision and innovation to deliver exceptional patient outcomes. He is involved in global ophthalmology in developing countries and has spent time in Guatemala and Sierra Leone, performing both cataract and corneal transplant surgeries.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Harris enjoys spending quality time with his wife, sharing an active lifestyle filled with racket sports, golf, snowboarding, and their new passion for birding. An avid traveler and photography enthusiast, he loves exploring new cultures and landscapes alongside his wife, bringing the same curiosity and energy to their shared adventures as he does to his medical practice.
